The Oregon Election Atlas is an independent tracker of Oregon elections. It is not affiliated with the Oregon Secretary of State, any county elections office, or any news organization.
Vote counts come from the Oregon Secretary of State’s unofficial results site, results.oregonvotes.gov, read about every 15 minutes from 8:00 PM on election night. Counties keep counting for days after the election, and results become official only when the Secretary of State certifies them. Always check the official site before relying on a number.
Race calls on this site are its own projections, not official results and not calls by any news organization. A race is called when the leader cannot be caught: either the lead is larger than the estimated number of ballots still to be counted, or the runner-up would need at least 75% of the remaining ballots to catch up, and no projection is made before about 30% of the expected vote is counted. Races with a single candidate on the ballot are called when polls close. Calls are reviewed by a person before they are published and can be withdrawn if the count changes.
The estimate of ballots still to be counted uses each district’s registered voters and statewide ballot returns, padded so that it errs on the side of waiting. It is an estimate; the share counted shown for each race is approximate.
Posts in the Atlas Desk feed are written by this site to summarize the results it shows. They are not from an official account or any real social media account.
